A Sustainable Mobility Transition Through Smart Traffic Reduction
The mobility transition is achieved through a combination of planning, organization, and innovation. The “Avoid – Shift – Improve” principle forms the foundation for sustainable mobility. In particular, traffic avoidance—that is, facilitating short trips, efficient mobility, and digital solutions—is of central importance, yet it is often neglected.
The Connect4SmartMoves project is establishing a cross-sector innovation network that supports the mobility transition with practical solutions aimed at reducing traffic and increasing efficiency. The project is being implemented by Climeet (Association for Climate Protection through Digital Solutions), with Bente Knoll on the board, as well as by VCÖ – Mobility with a Future. The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Mobility, and Infrastructure through the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG).
Connect4SmartMoves brings together stakeholders from various fields, including passenger and freight mobility, land-use planning, logistics, and digitalization. Through collaborative dialogue, they develop strategies to make mobility simpler and more sustainable.
