Energy Generation in the Women’s Learning Space

On February 19, 2026, we held an interactive workshop with about 15 women at the FrauenLernRaum of the ASH Forum of Civil Society in Vienna. Together, we discussed our daily energy routines—for example, how we heat and cook in Vienna and how this differs from the participants’ experiences in their countries of origin.

Using simple examples, we learned what 1 kWh of electricity or 1 m³ of gas means in everyday life. We also learned how to read an electricity bill and received clear explanations of important energy-related terms.

The workshop provided an opportunity for discussion, shared learning, and mutual support. A special moment was the visit by Cornelia Richter, the Protestant bishop of Austria, who participated in the workshop and actively contributed to it.

What is the Women’s Learning Space?

The FrauenLernRaum is a space exclusively for women. At the FrauenLernRaum, women can study in peace, get help with exams and courses, and meet other women.

Why was the FrauenLernRaum created?

Women often have a lot of work to do at home (taking care of the children, cooking, doing laundry, cleaning, etc.) and no time to study. At the Women’s Learning Space, they can find time, peace, and help with their studies.

Who runs the Women’s Learning Space?

Women from Wohnpartner and the ASH Forum for Civil Society. In addition, women volunteer at the FrauenLernRaum.
