Gender Analysis of Eco-Counseling in Europe

The study was conducted as part of the Leonardo da Vinci project “Eco stands for – Quality Handbook: Quality Standards for Eco Counseling in the EU—Standards for European Eco Counseling,” in which environmental organizations from various European countries participated to address quality issues and quality standards in the vocational education and training of environmental counselors in Europe.

Bente Knoll was responsible, among other things, for the work package “Gender Consulting/Coaching and Gender Mainstreaming,” which aims to incorporate knowledge about the connection between gender and the environment—and sustainability—into the development of standards for the vocational training and continuing education of environmental consultants. Bente Knoll was one of the people responsible for this work.

The report “Gender Analysis of Eco-Counseling in Europe” is the written outcome of this work package and provides an overview of the numerical distribution of women and men in environmental organizations across various European countries. It serves as a foundation for further work in the area of gender and environmental counseling. Other materials developed as part of the project include “Curriculum—Quality Standards for the Training of Environmental Counselors,” a two-day “Gender Training Course,” and the handbook “Quality Standards for Eco Counseling in Europe. Handbook 2006.”
