The research project “Women’s Paths—Men’s Paths” examines gender issues in transportation planning using concrete examples from selected transportation and mobility surveys.
Selected examples of common methods for mobility and transportation surveys were analyzed from a gender perspective; interviews with experts were conducted; and focus group discussions were held on the travel patterns and mode choices of commuters. Building on this, a gender-sensitive questionnaire for mobility surveys was developed that also captures key aspects of the mobility behavior of people with caregiving responsibilities.
In addition, specific recommendations for mobility and transportation surveys from a gender perspective were developed. The research project thus makes a constructive contribution toward a gender-equitable future in mobility research and transportation planning.
