Automated Mobility and Inclusion. Perspectives, Scenarios, and Recommendations for Transport and RTI Policy
This R&D service project developed perspectives, scenarios, and policy recommendations on how Automated Mobility (AM) can be promoted in Austria over the coming years through transport and research, technology, and innovation (RTI) policy – with a specific focus on equal opportunities.
The trend towards automation and digitalization is also transforming the transport landscape. Given the emerging challenges, planning and policy require a robust evidence base to support long-term investment decisions. In order to prepare the mobility system and society for automation at an early stage, it is essential to assess the impacts of the introduction and use of automated vehicles (Levels 4 and 5) in public transport – particularly with regard to their benefits for different user groups – even before market launch phases begin. The “AM inklusive!” R&D service examined in detail the potential and effects of automated mobility on equality and inclusion in Austria, aiming to provide a sound knowledge base and framework for public discussion on the possible opportunities and risks of automation.
