Through the “You Are Part of the Solution” project, we are committed to highlighting the valuable contributions and unique experiences of women* in agriculture—because their work is indispensable, even though it all too often goes unnoticed.
Through this project, we are creating a platform that not only facilitates networking and exchange but also offers concrete support. We want to encourage women* in rural areas—especially women over 60 and women working on farms—to discover their self-efficacy and actively participate in decision-making processes. Through inspiring examples and targeted educational programs, we want to show you: You are not alone—and your work is incredibly valuable!
Through our workshops, events, and media outreach, we create a space to discuss challenges, develop solutions, share knowledge, and exchange ideas. Target audience: Women aged 60 and older, as well as women working on farms
In summary:
Events in Women*’s Groups: All scheduled events take place in women*-only groups to create a safe space for open exchange and discussion. This encourages women* to participate and engage in the training sessions and workshops.
Knowledge-sharing and exchange formats: Workshops, webinars, and informational events are offered to educate participants and strengthen the target groups’ financial literacy.
Grant Programs, Expertise, and Basic Financial Knowledge: Targeted training sessions are held for women’s* groups in rural areas to improve their understanding of grant opportunities and teach them the basics of finance.
Networking and Sharing Experiences: The project promotes networking among women in agriculture through regular meetings, discussion forums, and mentoring. This creates a supportive network where women* can share their experiences, learn from one another, and develop solutions together.
Empowerment and Awareness-Raising: Through targeted awareness-raising initiatives, women are encouraged to actively manage their finances and improve their social security. This is achieved through specific training sessions on topics such as retirement planning, estate planning, and financial independence.
The project was submitted in response to the Federal Chancellery’s 2024/2025 call for proposals titled “Measures to Empower Women and Girls.” The project is led by the Austrian Association of Mountain and Small Farmers (ÖBV) – Via Campesina Austria. B-NK GmbH is working on the project on behalf of theInstitute for Gender Studies in Engineering.
