\u201cSustainable Gender Images\u201d is a study on gender aspects in selected media outlets covering the environment and sustainable development. For the first time, Austrian media outlets in this sector were analyzed, and their use of images and text was examined for gender inclusivity. <\/p>\n\n
The study shows which gender stereotypes are used to communicate sustainability, which topics are associated with which genders, and which gender attributions are made\u2014often implicitly\u2014in these media. It becomes apparent that materials and publications in the field of sustainable development are rarely designed to be gender-neutral; rather, for example, the images used to convey content repeatedly reproduce common gender stereotypes. <\/p>\n\n
Based on this study, a guide was developed that includes illustrative examples and specific recommendations for action. It is intended to support organizations and stakeholders in the field of the environment and sustainable development in their efforts to give greater consideration to the category of \u201cgender\u201d in the production of media and materials.<\/p>\n\n
