{"id":12746,"date":"2025-02-01T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-02-01T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.b-nk.at\/uncategorized\/green-bim-3\/"},"modified":"2026-07-16T10:25:50","modified_gmt":"2026-07-16T08:25:50","slug":"green-bim-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.b-nk.at\/en\/projekte-en\/green-bim-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Green BIM 3"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tools for standardized data to integrate BIM and digital twins, including ecosystem services<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Due to advancing globalization and the associated developments in the climate and energy sectors, the green industry has experienced an economic, social, and political upswing in recent years. Digitalization also offers the industry new opportunities\u2014particularly through Building Information Modeling (BIM) and the resulting improvements in interoperability and efficiency.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, the green sector faces challenges regarding the availability of data on BIM objects, environmental metrics, and general interoperability. For example, there are no dynamic tree BIM models, one of the most important elements for climate adaptation in cities. In other sectors, such as the wood industry or civil engineering, this gap has already been addressed and closed through databases (dataHolz, BauDataWeb, etc.). Due to the predominantly small- and medium-sized structure of the green sector, the time and financial resources available for such a solution are limited.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br\/>This is where the<strong> Green BIM 3 <\/strong>project comes<strong> in <\/strong>, with the aim of driving forward practice-oriented technology development. Based on the results of the previous research projects \u201c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.b-nk.at\/projekte\/gruenes-planen-wohnen-leben\/green-bim\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"1360\">Green BIM<\/a>\u201c (FFG No. 873526; Duration: 09\/2019 to 11\/2022) and \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.b-nk.at\/projekte\/gruenes-planen-wohnen-leben\/green-bim-2\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"7360\">Green BIM 2<\/a>\u201c (FFG No. 901791; project duration: June 2023 to December 2025), the necessary data structures are already available, including IFC model proposals, use cases, and interface descriptions. These are currently available only through restricted-access data structure tools for a limited selection of software and require additional manual adjustments. The goal is therefore to address data availability and the integration of BIM into work processes through a web-based application with appropriate interfaces. Through a comprehensive requirements specification based on interviews, workshops, and research, the basic framework for the application will be defined and linked to the individual components of the application.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This involves, first, the development of dynamic BIM models for climate-resilient trees that simulate individual growth processes. In addition, the ecological parameters required for certifications are linked, and key metrics for the green sector are made available in a database. Currently, the integration of data such as CO2 absorption, ecosystem services, etc., is carried out only through time-consuming research and subsequent manual entry. In addition to the data, the developed and field-tested P-Sets are incorporated. This data is also relevant to clients and is prepared accordingly. To facilitate online editing, a BIM viewer is also being integrated, which will allow users to upload their own BIM projects as well as customize and link data. The technical implementation is accompanied by discussion forums, training sessions, and knowledge transfer to the (specialist) public to ensure the best possible transfer into practice.      <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br\/>The development of the <strong>Green BIM web application<\/strong> thus establishes the necessary link between research and everyday work. This provides the industry with the necessary expertise and access to digital tools to address current opportunities and challenges. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The goal of Green BIM 3 is to address data availability and the integration of BIM into work processes through a web-based application with appropriate interfaces.
